The René Smeets Award is presented to a Bachelor graduate with a high level of engagement and understanding of the current times and societal challenges. The designer shows professionalism in both its systematic approach of analysis and its new (insights for) innovative solutions to create impact on current societal needs.

Dutch Design Week is a large-scale and international annual event in Eindhoven. The event is the largest design event in Europe, it presents work and concepts from more than 2,600 designers. There are around 355,000 visitors every year.

Every year, the BNO publishes the Dd Yearbook. The yearbook consists of essays and interviews, striking graduation work from Dutch design schools, award-winning work. We chose the theme naturing this year, a verb that is about 'designing with and for nature'. How can designers contribute to a healthy balance between people, nature and technology?
